Polsinelli is moving its Atlanta office to larger digs at One Atlantic Center, in the heart of Midtown’s law firm district. The 15-year lease is for two floors, or 45,000 square feet. Polsinelli’s Atlanta office, which has 27 lawyers, currently occupies a half floor of space at The Peachtree building at 1355 Peachtree St. N.E., a block north of the High Museum and bordering Ansley Park. The new offices are set to open this week.
Big Law Gets
For Smith, Gambrell & Russell, where Leah Ward Sears, a former chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, is joining starting October 10. Sears leaves from Schiff Hardin.
For Taylor English, where Joel Williams joined as counsel from Bryan Cave. Williams has a corporate law practice that includes international trade, regulatory and legislative matters.
Big Law Honors
For Sutherland’s managing partner Mark Wasserman, who has been chosen as a board member for the Atlanta Women’s Foundation, which makes grants to nonprofits to advance women and girls from poverty to self-sufficiency. Wasserman recently participated in the Women in Law Hackathon, a competition between teams of lawyers from almost 60 firms to boost the retention and advancement of women at big law firms.
For Chamberlain Hrdlicka’s Nicholas Papleacos, who won the 2016 Outstanding Part-Time Teaching Award from Kennesaw State University. Papleacos has taught construction law and dispute resolution at KSU for 12 years in the College of Architecture and Construction Management.
