For Sutherland, which represented Rockland Capital in connection with its affiliate, Redback Power, acquiring a 100 percent interest in the Victoria Power Station, a natural gas-fired combined cycle facility located in Victoria, Texas. Partner Thomas Warren led the deal team on the acquisition.

For Jones Days’ Liazanne Thomas, who was on Southern Company’s law team in a closed deal with Kinder Morgan. The deal is a natural gas pipeline venture through Southern Company’s acquisition of a 50 percent equity interest in the Southern Natural Gas pipeline system through a subsidiary of Southern Company Gas.

For Paul Hastings, which represented Carey Watermark Investors 2 Inc. in its acquisition of the Renaissance Atlanta Midtown Hotel. The Paul Hastings team was led by real estate partners Rick Kirkbride and Derek Roth.

Nelson Mullins is hosting the fifth annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil with Partnership Against Domestic Violence, Georgia’s largest nonprofit working to end domestic violence. The event will take place at Nelson Mullins’ Atlanta office on October 27 in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

For Fisher Phillips’ Claud “Tex” McIver, appointed to the Gun Violence Advisory Committee by the American Bar Association. The Gun Violence Advisory Committee aims to address the problem of gun violence through public education, bar activation, and legislative effort, as well as by taking on a coordinating role for lawyers active in the ABA.

For Sutherland Managing Partner Mark Wasserman, selected to join the Atlanta Women’s Foundation board of directors. As the only public foundation in Georgia dedicated solely to women and girls, the AWF exists to be a catalyst for change and to end generational poverty.
