DLA Piper advised ClearView Group, LLC in its acquisition of Ebony and Jet magazines from Johnson Publishing Company, LLC. The DLA Piper team representing ClearView was led by partner Gerry Williams, with support from attorney Shelisha Steele.

Associate pay raises have hit Atlanta. King & Spalding announced it’s increasing starting salary pay by $20,000 for associates. Alston & Bird matched that number last week.

Mae Prestera has joined Ballard Spahr as chief financial officer. Presser has more than 20 years of experience in financial analysis and reporting, legal pricing and project management, and budget development and oversight.

Larry Kunin, a partner at Morris, Manning & Martin, is now president of the Florida Bar’s Out-of-State Practitioner Division. The division represents the interests of more than 14,000 Florida Bar members who reside outside the state. He was sworn in June 17 in Orlando.

For Kilpatrick Townsend, which announced the addition of Michelle Tyde on the firm’s global sourcing & technology team in the corporate, finance and real estate department as counsel. She previously served as partner at Culhane Meadows.

Big Law Honors

For Alston & Bird’s Sarah Ernst, who has has been selected as a member of the Daily Report’s “On the Rise” class of 2016, an elite group of Georgia lawyers under the age of 40 who have achieved a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Ernst is a partner in the firm’s health care group.
